How is the Maternity FITsplint different from other maternity supports?
The FITsplint's unique design allows for the 2 straps to separate if desired to provide more belly support during motion. The straps can both be worn down low for more back or belly support. As you crossover the 2 straps, you can gently "lift" the belly for more bladder relief. The FITsplint is fully adjustable so you can get the proper secure fit that you need.
Can I use the Maternity FITsplint post-partum or is it best to order a Maternity FITsplint and a post-partum splint? Yes you can wear the Maternity FITsplint post-partum, it will just wrap around the back. Some women may not need the Maternity FITsplint, but all moms can benefit from wearing the FITsplint Post-partum, so we sell it in smaller sizes.
Is this Maternity FITsplint just for pregnant exercisers?
No, not at all. This is a maternity support for any pregnant woman who wants general back, ligament or bladder support. The unique design and material make it easy for exercisers to get the proper support they need as well. The FITsplint is used by physical therapists to help with sciatic pain, pelvic girdle pain and back pain.
I'm pregnant and have always been fairly athletic, I'm pretty sure my abs are strong enough to carry a baby, why would I need the Maternity FITsplint?
When a mom runs while pregnant (4+ months), there is increased belly motion. Stabilizing this motion can help reduce the stress on the connective tissue, bladder and back. Wearing a support will reduce the stress loads and provide a smoother gait. The FITsplint is also used to by physical therapists to help with sciatic pain, pelvic girdle pain and back pain.
No matter how strong a woman's core muscles are, they lose the ability to work at 100% while stretched out during pregnancy. Muscles will be stressed when running with a larger belly. Having a strong stable core is very important during pregnancy to help moms recover well afterwards and reduce the risk of injury and diastasis recti.
How often should I wear the Maternity FITsplint?
It will depend on the wearer. It is recommended to wear anytime after 4+ months until delivery. Some women wear it just for proper support during exercise, some wear it to reduce the stress on the back during the day. Some wear it to help relieve pressure off the bladder, muscles or ligaments. Wear as often as needed.
Why is your material flexible?
The FITsplint material is more flexible than most supports to provide the right amount of support while still allowing the core muscles to do the work! The FITsplint is worn to help decrease the extra weight and stress put on the ligaments and joints. Exercises should still be done during pregnancy to keep the core strong and prepare the body for delivery. Exercises, proper body mechanics, alignment and support can all help keep you strong and symptom free during pregnancy.
My FITsplint isn't staying in place as well as it did before. Dry skin can affect the silicone. It is recommended to keep the skin moisturized or wipe the silicone with a damp cloth as needed.
